This page is not long, but it makes the site slightly less one dimensional only about work.
Some interests I have outside work include:
- Family: Married + 2 year old
- Scrabble: I have played tournament Scrabble since 1993, with peak rankings in the UK top 10 and world top 50 a few years ago. I also am a certified tournament director for the national players’ association (NASPA), and wrote their wiki pages on the international dictionary (which could do with updating)
- Day hiking: Our family often goes out at the weekend to places around the Bay Area, and walking makes good exercise
- Road trips: I like driving, natural places like National Parks, and interesting places in cities like museums. So road trips work well
- Reading: Mostly nonfiction, science, online articles. Also audiobooks
- Motorsport: Not so much recently, but I have followed things like Formula 1 for a long time
- Toastmasters: I attending this for public speaking between about 2010 and 2015 and gained Competent Communicator status
- Data−intensive astronomy / data science / astroinformatics: I have a few side projects I’d like to do, somewhat limited at present by the young family member mentioned above
